About The Position

The Substation Engineering Intern position at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is designed for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. This internship, set for Summer 2025, will provide hands-on experience in the Renewables Division, focusing on Protection and Controls. Interns will engage in various technical tasks, including project research, fieldwork, and preliminary design calculations, while utilizing CAD/PLSCAD software to prepare working drawings and perform routine data analysis.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering major (Junior, Senior, or Master's student).
  • Demonstrates willingness to accept new challenges and learn specialized field.
  • Growing knowledge of profession as demonstrated by involvement in related professional organizations and professional development programs.
  • Basic knowledge of the firm's policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of software required for position.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to follow general directions and work with limited independence on basic computations.

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares preliminary analysis on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Conducts project research, fieldwork, observation, and preliminary design calculations.
  • Takes personal responsibility for the quality of tasks performed.
  • Uses CAD/PLSCAD to prepare and check working drawings, details, layouts, and estimates.
  • Performs routine analysis to check the accuracy of data and work products.
