About the position

The Summer Associate Internship in Enterprise Risk - Data Risk Governance at Navy Federal provides students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data governance practices and oversight activities. The role focuses on enhancing data quality and trust through effective governance frameworks, compliance, and collaboration. Interns will work on impactful projects that contribute to the organization's data risk culture and support the overall mission of leveraging data as a valuable asset.

Responsibilities

  • Research emerging data risks and best practices in data governance risk management tools and capabilities.
  • Perform operational support for the Data Risk Governance program, including managing stakeholder intake requests and reporting on workflow tracking execution.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and provide inputs to key performance indicators and metrics.
  • Support Data Risk Governance stakeholder training, engagement, and communications planning and execution.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree (BS or MS preferred).
  • Preferred coursework in data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, business analytics/intelligence, or decision-science.
  • Experience using data and analytic tools such as Excel, Tableau, and PowerBI; exposure to data governance tools like Databricks, Collibra, or Alation is desirable.
  • Exposure to data science and analysis programming (e.g., Python, SQL, R) is a plus.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves
