About the position

The Application Engineering (AE) role focuses initially on Supercapacitor products, with future support for other technologies. The primary responsibility includes the design of Supercapacitor modules, managing engineering projects, and sizing modules from concept to mass production. The role also involves providing technical, engineering, and specification support for New Product Introductions, as well as offering customers key features and specifications of CDE products. Additionally, the position requires generating technical documentation, including charts and graphs based on factory information and internal test results, and supporting marketing assets that promote product benefits and capabilities. Training customers and sales channels on application and product knowledge is also a key responsibility. The role includes managing life test lab equipment, analyzing life test data for factory and module design evaluation, and verifying factory manufacturing quality through internal tests.

Responsibilities

• Design Supercapacitor modules and manage engineering projects from concept to mass production.
• Provide technical, engineering, and specification support for New Product Introductions.
• Generate technical documentation including charts and graphs based on factory information and internal test results.
• Create supporting data for marketing assets promoting product benefits and capabilities.
• Provide application and product training to customers and sales channels.
• Manage life test lab equipment and analyze life test data for factory and module design evaluation.
• Verify factory manufacturing quality through internal tests.

Requirements

• Location: On-Site in Itasca, IL
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering
• Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Intermediate skills in CAD, PCB Layout, Altium, Solid Works, Auto Cad-Inventor, Fusion 360, and Python.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 3 - 5 years of technical applications experience required.
• Background in energy storage solutions.
• Understanding and design of Active and Passive Balancing Circuits.
• Experience with BMS design solutions (preferred).
• Experience with Charge and Discharge circuit design solutions.
• Experience with Arbin or other Battery/Supercapacitor testing equipment preferred.
• Customer-facing engineering experience via MS Teams, Email, Phone, or in-person visits.
• Travel required: 10 - 20%.
