About the position

The Supervisor - Airport Operations position at United Airlines is a part-time role focused on overseeing front-line employees in an operational environment at the airport. The supervisor will provide leadership, ensure safety and service standards are met, and engage with employees to foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellent customer service. This role is essential in maintaining smooth airport operations and delivering quality service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of a work area and front-line employees in an operational environment
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on safety, service, and procedures
  • Focus on leading and developing the skills of front-line employees to deliver consistent and excellent customer service
  • Ensure consistency on operational service and product delivery
  • Engage with front-line employees to review metrics and gain their commitment to act in accordance with Company guidelines and union agreements
  • Support standard work and continuous improvement processes
  • Supervise the performance of a team and work area, ensuring daily operational goals are met
  • Assess and delegate appropriate work assignments to front-line employees
  • Provide regular mentoring, feedback, and recognition to front-line employees
  • Identify issues and engage in structured problem solving to assist front-line employees
  • Conduct investigations into performance, safety, complaints, and other work issues
  • Provide technical guidance and interpret company guidelines and procedures to assist front-line employees
  • Partner with vendor supervisor staff to define and address performance impacting shared goals
  • Complete all required regulatory and Company documentation of activities
  • Participate in collateral projects

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or education equivalent
  • Strong sense of ownership and understanding of operations
  • Experience in continuous improvement
  • Customer focus and conflict resolution skills
  • Accountability, teamwork, and engagement/motivation
  • Safety orientation
  • Planning and multi-tasking abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Decision-making skills with the ability to lead
  • Proficient in IT systems and common software appropriate to work group
  • Experience leading and influencing a team and customer service experience
  • Flexibility to work any shift in a 24/7 operation including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Valid state-issued driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Must NOT have lived outside the United States in the past 3 years for any period longer than six months
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Reliable and punctual attendance

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant job experience

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
