About the position

The Supervisor Gas Control at Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is responsible for leading and supervising the Gas Control Center, which operates 24/7 to ensure the safe and reliable distribution of natural gas. This role involves coordinating real-time gas system activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and managing a team of gas controllers. The Supervisor will also be involved in load forecasting, emergency response, and maintaining effective relationships with external operators and internal departments.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and supervise the Gas Control Center operations.
• Ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operation of the natural gas system.
• Monitor and control the natural gas distribution system in real-time.
• Coordinate activities of gas controllers for safe and compliant operations.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections, promoting a culture of total safety.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities to employees.
• Manage load forecasting and after-hours balancing of the pipeline.
• Assist with the creation and management of departmental budgets.
• Analyze daily gas control data and reports for best practices.
• Act as a liaison with external entities and other PSE departments.

Requirements

• 5 years of utility/business experience in natural gas operations or related fields.
• 3 years of comprehensive knowledge of gas control center operations.
• Experience leading people and/or projects.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

• BA/BS degree in engineering discipline, business, or related field.
• Thorough knowledge of PSE's gas SCADA system.
• Knowledge of gas measurement theory and chromatography.
