About the position

The Nursing Supervisor at Central Maine Healthcare is responsible for ensuring quality patient care through effective management of Patient Care Services during their assigned shifts. This role includes administrative decision-making in the absence of the Administrator, facilitating patient throughput, and providing clinical support across patient care units. The Nursing Supervisor is expected to lead communication efforts, manage staff assignments, and represent hospital administration when necessary, all while promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate throughput by demonstrating effective communication and strong clinical decision-making skills.
  • Place all patient admissions and transfers.
  • Update and collaborate with the Administrator on-call and/or specific department leadership.
  • Assign and monitor staff on an ongoing basis to promote effective staff utilization.
  • Provide clinical support to all patient care units as needed.
  • Represent Hospital/Nursing Administration in their absence.
  • Lead Incident Command in the absence of an Administrator and/or designee.
  • Lead all bed huddles within scheduled shift and participate in required leadership meetings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a registered professional nurse in Maine.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a staff nurse, preferred 5 years.
  • Clinical nursing supervisor experience with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills that enhance communication and promote conflict resolution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Strong clinical skills, preferably in critical care.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to engage patients and team members utilizing the CMH Experience Standards.
