About the position

This position provides technical and/or administrative direction to one or more subordinates, but occupies less than the required minimum of the position's time; or is not performing the full range of supervisory duties for subordinate employees (i.e., performance ratings and discipline). The role involves performing professional aerospace engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. The individual will function as the organization's technical specialist in design and development engineering for critical systems and subsystems, performing complex and comprehensive analysis and using systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects. Additionally, the position serves as a consultant and technical expert to senior subject matter specialists, agency and/or Department of Defense (DoD) officials responsible for broad program operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and/or administrative direction to subordinates.
  • Perform professional aerospace engineering work related to weapon systems.
  • Function as a technical specialist in design and development engineering.
  • Conduct complex analysis and document projects systematically.
  • Serve as a consultant and technical expert to senior officials.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Obtain and maintain Security clearance.
  • Subject to TDY up to 10 days per year.
  • Professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Advanced degrees are preferred.
  • May require drug testing.
  • Must meet APDP certification as designated on the position description.
  • Engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 continuous learning points every 24 months.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years' experience in test and evaluation.
  • 5+ years' experience in leading teams.
