Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist (Operations Supervisor)

About the position

Serves as an Operations Supervisor (OS) in a Level 9 terminal facility. Provides first-line supervision to a team of air traffic control specialists that provide air traffic control services within delegated airspace.

Responsibilities

• Directs a staff of air traffic control specialists responsible for air traffic control assignments within a limited geographic area.
• Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinate employees; sets work priorities and schedules.
• Approves leave and provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
• Evaluates performance of employees and recommends performance ratings.
• Hears and resolves complaints from employees and refers unresolved complaints to higher-level supervisors.
• Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training.
• Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.

Requirements

• US Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must submit an SF50 (Notification of Personnel Action).
• Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
• Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.
• A one-year supervisor/managerial probationary period may be required.
• Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters positions for at least 1 year (52 weeks), or been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility, or held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.
