Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist (Operations Supervisor )

About the position

Serves as an SATCS, Operations Supervisor in a Level 12 Terminal Facility and is located at Philadelphia Tower in PHL Area C. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising a staff of Air Traffic Control Specialists that is responsible for carrying out air traffic control assignments within a geographic area. This role involves planning and directing operations within delegated areas of responsibility, providing first line supervision to a team of Developmental and Certified Professional Controllers, and evaluating performance of employees.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a staff of Air Traffic Control Specialists.
• Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinate employees.
• Sets work priorities and schedules.
• Approves leave and provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees.
• Evaluates performance of employees and recommends performance ratings.
• Hears and resolves complaints from employees.
• Identifies and arranges for developmental and other training needs of employees.
• Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.
• Adjusts staffing levels and work procedures to accommodate resource decisions made at higher levels.
• Recommends goals and objectives for the area and tracks accomplishments.

Requirements

• US Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must submit an SF50.
• Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
• A one-year supervisor/managerial probationary period may be required.
• Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

• Experience in a supervisory role within an Air Traffic Control environment.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations and procedures.

Benefits

• Salary range: $186,036 - $225,700 per year.
• Relocation expenses reimbursed: Fixed Rate PCS - Permanent Change of Station.
• Eligibility for a $25,000 Cash Award upon permanent reassignment to PHL Area C and achieving area certification.
