About the position

The Supervisory Biomedical Engineer (Clinical) at the VA San Diego Healthcare System is responsible for overseeing the Healthcare Technology Management program, ensuring compliance with safety and legislative requirements, and providing engineering support for medical devices. This role involves leadership within the program, interaction with medical staff, and participation in various committees related to medical equipment and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional engineering direction to comply with legislative and accrediting requirements at the medical center.
  • Develop policies and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding medical equipment.
  • Ensure safety training and worksite inspections to minimize on-the-job injuries.
  • Support the Equal Employment Opportunity program and resolve discrimination complaints.
  • Promote strategic planning and collaborate with executive staff to design solutions for healthcare technology needs.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited institution, or certification as a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Experience equivalent to the next lower level in the field of biomedical engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing healthcare technology programs.
  • Knowledge of medical device cybersecurity and compliance reporting.
