About the position

The Supervisory General Engineer position at the Department of Defense involves exercising managerial and decision-making authority in systems or technical engineering and logistical development. The role is critical in ensuring the successful completion of assigned missions by coordinating and integrating the work of various units, establishing priorities, and evaluating the performance of subordinates. This position also requires the development of performance objectives and standards as part of the Contribution-based Compensation and Appraisal System (CCAS).

Responsibilities

  • Exercise managerial and decision authority for systems or technical engineering and logistical development.
  • Make decisions involving policy that impacts the PEO/PMS ability to complete the assigned mission.
  • Coordinate and integrate the work of other units.
  • Assign work and establish priorities; evaluate performance of subordinates; perform initial, mid-term, and annual counseling.
  • Develop Contribution-based Compensation and Appraisal System (CCAS) performance objectives/standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-13 level in the Federal service.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Meet position requirements for certification at Level Practitioner in the Acquisition Career Field Engineering and Technical Management within 60 months of entrance on duty.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
