About the position

The Supply Chain Specialist at Amcor Rigid Packaging is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of loading, unloading, and moving raw materials within the plant. This role is crucial for ensuring that production processes run smoothly and that finished goods are properly stored and managed. The specialist will operate forklifts, manage inventory using SAP, and communicate effectively with both internal teams and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Abide by all Amcor's Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift safely and proficiently for a 12-hour period.
  • Supply necessary raw materials to production as needed.
  • Remove finished goods from the production area and store them properly in the warehouse.
  • Operate the SAP Computer System to tag finished products and manage inventory.
  • Stack finished products neatly in the warehouse.
  • Be flexible and able to work any shift as required.
  • Work safely in a fast-paced environment and wear necessary safety equipment.
  • Accept additional duties as requested by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Operate various types of equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Knowledge of dock operations and equipment.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Utilize written and oral communication with carriers and customers.
  • Respond urgently to carriers and customers.
  • Coordinate and oversee offsite warehouse operations.
  • Utilize material warehouse management systems to identify orders and products.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; some post-secondary education preferred.
  • Forklift certification and previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 3 years of forklift experience required; sit-down forklift experience preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills to generate emails and reports.
  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values for database entry.
  • Strong mathematical ability is essential.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to visually distinguish variations in color and defects.
  • Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.
  • Ability to make priority decisions and independent judgment calls.
  • Ability to efficiently use a computer and related software.
  • Willingness to work all shifts and required overtime.
