About the position

The Supply Chain Specialist at MedStar Health is responsible for managing the daily operational aspects of supply chain management within assigned procedure-based departments. This role involves monitoring supply usage, ensuring compliance with contracts, and serving as the main contact for supply and service vendors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, contributing to the optimization of workflow and cost controls in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in communication with procedure department leadership, physicians, and specialty team leaders to establish supply chain strategies.
  • Develop and manage the department supply budget according to approved guidelines.
  • Communicate supply-related issues such as back orders, discontinued items, and recalls to clinical team members.
  • Conduct mid-year and annual performance evaluations for direct reports, establishing and monitoring individual and team goals.
  • Establish and implement processes for loaner items and consignment products.
  • Oversee inventory counting, reordering, and stocking goods efficiently and timely.
  • Execute scheduled cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Process implant requests through Purchasing and maintain documentation.
  • Promote professional growth by meeting continuing education requirements and supporting department goals.
  • Maintain inventory levels to meet customer needs within financial guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary contact for manufacturer/vendor relations and contract compliance.
  • Act as the supply chain liaison for resolving patient billing errors in assigned departments.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of previous management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
