About the position

The Supply & Demand Planner at Hachette Book Group plays a crucial role in supporting inventory planning and demand forecasting for major publishing imprints. This position involves collaborating with various departments to ensure effective print decisions and inventory management, contributing to the overall success of the publishing process.

Responsibilities

• Run and review daily, weekly, monthly Inventory and Forecasting Reports.
• Review key account Cancel and Reorder Reports.
• Set up and provide print recommendations for Reprint Meetings; review Holiday Titles/Brand Books.
• Plan forecasts and provide print recommendations during First Print Meetings.
• Enter Printing Authorizations.
• Conduct Point of Sales (POS) Forecasting.
• Maintain Sales Reservation and Transfer Requests.
• Manage Planner Codes to ensure proper planning and visibility of sales promotions.
• Monitor Reprints in Process to prioritize titles by need-by date.
• Review Overstock/Remainder/Destruct, Returns Disposition, Refurbishment, and Component Storage.

Requirements

• BA/BS/MS in a quantitative field preferred but not required.
• At least 5 years background in a publishing industry supply & demand planning environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting, and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various teams involved in the forecast process.
• Proven analytical skills and adeptness with analytical tools, including advanced Excel.
