About the position

The Surgical Assistant I position at Beacon Oral Specialists is a full-time role focused on providing support during oral surgeries and consultations. The role emphasizes patient care, organization, and adherence to safety protocols, with opportunities for professional growth within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Surgeon during consultations and treatment.
  • Perform basic lab duties such as impressions and pouring up/trimming models.
  • Ensure proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols.
  • Operate and maintain autoclave equipment.
  • Set up surgical trays and identify instruments used in the clinic.
  • Prepare the room for IV anesthesia and surgery, including patient seating and pre-op setup.
  • Review patient charts and set up nitrous oxide as needed.
  • Position restraints and support airway for sedated patients.
  • Circulate and retrieve instruments during procedures.
  • Provide excellent patient care and communication.
  • Restock supplies, forms, handouts, and rooms as needed.
  • Take vital signs and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and filing.
  • Make follow-up phone calls to patients and may take X-Rays.
  • Open and close the office each day, managing tanks, suction, and X-ray equipment.
  • Greet patients and ensure their comfort.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) required.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent patient care under stress.
  • Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program preferred.
  • Certification as a Surgical Assistant preferred.
