About The Position

The City of Easthampton is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Sustainability Coordinator to administer and organize efforts to promote environmental, energy, economic, and social sustainability. This role involves managing the City's Climate Action Plan in collaboration with various stakeholders while developing and advancing sustainability initiatives. The position offers a chance to drive meaningful change and make a lasting impact on the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Policy, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Planning, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of closely related experience, preferably in a municipal setting.

  • Knowledge of current State and federal grant opportunities and climate-related science.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Climate Action Plan and pursue associated grants and public outreach under the supervision of the Director of Public Works.
  • Manage and maintain the City's status as a Green Community through energy usage reporting and compliance with designation criteria.
  • Oversee ongoing energy efficiency projects such as Municipal Aggregation, public EV Charger installation, and municipal EV fleet conversion.
  • Provide clerical and technical support to the Energy Advisory Committee and Biodiversity, Environment, & Ecological Sustainability Committee (BEES).
  • Collaborate with regional organizations and planning groups on multi-municipality projects.
  • Act as a liaison to state agencies associated with climate, energy, and sustainability-related matters.
  • Research and review building and development projects for climate resiliency and sustainable practices.
  • Assist the public in pursuing electrification and associated grants or incentives.
  • Promote incentives and provide up-to-date information to the public and local businesses.
  • Coordinate consultation with multiple city departments and members of the public throughout project development.
