About the position

The Sustaining Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting Crenlo Engineered Cabs' North American facilities by enhancing the safety and manufacturability of off-highway cab products currently in production. This position involves implementing quality improvements, executing customer-requested design revisions, and collaborating with various internal teams to ensure product specifications meet customer needs. The role can be based in multiple locations or remotely, depending on business demands.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer Engineering Changes for complex welded steel structures and other components.
  • Support design changes for existing products using established Engineering Change Request and Notice processes.
  • Translate end-customer functional requirements into product specifications.
  • Support the development and maintenance of product configurations and options through BOM structures.
  • Create and modify 3D model geometries and print structures aligned with manufacturing requirements.
  • Conduct design review activities and implement robust technical development processes post-launch.
  • Develop design solutions based on manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Serve as a customer-facing liaison to resolve production design issues and implement improvements.
  • Manage files and drawings using CREO and PTC-Windchill.
  • Proactively identify design optimization and cost reduction projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in steel structure, sheet metal part design, and welded component assembly in the Off-Highway Industry.
  • 3D modelling experience, preferably with Creo.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Design for Manufacturability in complex product environments.
  • Strong understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing and manufacturing process capabilities.
