About the position

The position of Secretary/Accountant at Stratton Elementary involves maintaining accounting records and being responsible for the accounting process associated with billing, budgets, purchasing, and related operations. The role also includes performing general clerical tasks, transcribing notes, preparing reports, and handling routine correspondence. The individual will serve as a liaison between the building/program and the public, ensuring effective office procedures are established and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains confidentiality and unquestionable integrity.
  • Provides secretarial, bookkeeping, and administrative support.
  • Responsible for scheduling professional trips and/or in-services.
  • Produces reports or processes purchase orders using the county accounting system.
  • Produces accurate work with frequent interruptions.
  • Serves as a liaison between the building/program and the public.
  • Schedules facilities and coordinates arrangements for activities and/or meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Keeps administrator(s) informed of all aspects of building/program requirements.
  • Ensures effective office procedures are established and maintained.
  • Prepares accurate written communications including letters, newsletters, and notices.
  • Prepares various reports and communications for the building as directed.
  • Complies with State Law and County policies and regulations.
  • Accurately prepares county, state, and federal reports from raw data, generating charts and graphs as necessary.
  • Greets visitors, answers phones, responds to inquiries, and accurately routes messages.
  • Manages multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Interprets a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Works effectively with administrators and other staff personnel.
  • Operates computers and software, learns and utilizes new software programs.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
  • Speaks clearly and concisely in oral and written communication.
  • Performs duties in compliance with county requirements and Board policies.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent keyboarding skills with good grammatical spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to learn and utilize new software programs as systems are upgraded.
  • Experience with the operation of computers and software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
