About the position

The Senior Vice President Underwriting at Hunt Capital Management will play a pivotal role in leading the financial analysis and underwriting of real estate capital structure products. This includes a focus on credit, preferred, and equity instruments specifically tailored for both commercial and residential real estate investments. Reporting directly to the President, the SVP will be responsible for structuring, negotiating, and closing investment transactions, ensuring that all deals are assessed thoroughly for their strengths and potential issues. This role requires a keen understanding of market dynamics and the ability to socialize findings with senior management effectively. In addition to leading underwriting efforts, the SVP will prepare comprehensive narrative credit memorandums that include scenario analyses to support decision-making processes. The position also involves assisting in the financial analysis of various other real estate and corporate investment opportunities within Hunt Companies, including a land banking platform aimed at public and private homebuilder companies. This multifaceted role demands a blend of analytical skills, strategic thinking, and strong communication abilities to navigate complex financial landscapes and foster relationships with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in commercial and residential real estate financial analysis and underwriting, along with a strong financial and accounting background. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is essential, as is the ability to analyze financial statements and evaluate demographic data. The SVP will be expected to communicate effectively through oral and written presentations, including investment committee presentations and negotiations with counterparties and investors.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the financial analysis and underwriting of real estate capital structure products, such as credit, preferred and equity instruments for commercial and residential real estate investments.
  • Structures, negotiates, and closes investment transactions.
  • Assesses markets and opportunities, identifying deal strengths and issues (and potential mitigants) and socializing findings with senior management.
  • Prepares comprehensive narrative credit memorandums with scenario analysis.
  • Assists in the financial analysis of various other real estate and corporate investment opportunities within Hunt Companies, including a land banking platform for public and private homebuilder companies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree)
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Substantial previous experience relating to commercial and residential real estate financial analysis and underwriting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate via oral and written presentations, including investment committee presentations, counterparty negotiations, and investor interaction.
  • Strong financial and accounting background, familiar with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the ability to analyze financial statements and evaluate demographic data.
