About the position

The Systems Administrator II is responsible for maintaining the stability, security, and efficiency of the organization’s systems, servers and network services. This role provides essential Helpdesk support, ensuring seamless day-to-day IT operations while contributing to long-term technology initiatives and infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 2/3 Helpdesk support, resolving escalated technical issues effectively and professionally
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, systems, and network devices, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  • Administer and support Windows, iOS, Android-based operating systems, including updates, patches, and backups.
  • Ensure system security by implementing best practices, firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, configuration guides, and system diagrams.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and group policies in Active Directory Microsoft 365, and other systems.
  • Participate in IT projects, including hardware refreshes, software rollouts, and system upgrades.
  • Monitor computer systems to improve network performance for all systems
  • Maintain and troubleshoot endpoint security, including antivirus software and patch management
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and management
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to NCU systems
  • Implement pre-defined trouble-shooting procedures and scripts and escalate as appropriate.
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their own work.
  • Diagnose and resolve connectivity and wiring problems.
  • Perform SAN troubleshooting
  • Conduct Vulnerability Assessments, 3rd Party Audit management, and PCI Testing
  • Document and maintain procedures related to position responsibilities.
  • Develop trends by monitoring and analyzing incoming calls, problems, and support requests.
  • May require occasional after-hours or weekend work for system maintenance or emergencies

Requirements

  • Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Experience supporting network technologies.
  • Experience with VMware and/or other virtual machines.
  • Technical aptitude and experience in providing 'hands-on' technical network hardware/software support as required.
  • A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
