About The Position

The System Administrator II position at Akima Systems Engineering involves managing systems for the US Coast Guard C5I Service Center. The role focuses on maintaining operating systems, ensuring compliance with standards, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support to users. Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or Network Engineering and a minimum of three (3) years of system administration experience; or a certificate from an accredited Community or Technical College in System Administration and five (5) years of system administration experience.
  • Successful completion of additional training in one or more leading network operating systems, equipment, and protocols within two (2) years of task order solicitation.
  • A current System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or equivalent certification is required.
  • A Secret clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and maintains operating and systems software.
  • Manages systems configuration and monitors compliance with system standards.
  • Evaluates software and/or hardware and administers user accounts and profiles.
  • Performs operating system troubleshooting.
  • Develops, runs tests, implements, and maintains operating system and related software.
  • Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems.
  • Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and performs data recoveries.
  • Recommends hardware and software upgrades according to growth statistics and disk space forecasts.
  • Provides technical support for system users.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
