The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within a patient care unit and for the day-to-day management and supervision of the related clinical activities. The Medical Progressive Care Unit is a 36-bed PCU that cares for patients with sepsis, respiratory failure, heart failure, and multi-organ complications who require close monitoring but don't need full ICU care. This is a fast-paced and supportive unit with exposure to a broad range of complex conditions making every shift unique. The nurses on this unit have high critical thinking skills and are proficient in early detection of patient deterioration. Medical PCU experience is highly valuable for those interested in transitioning to ICU, ER, flight nursing, or advanced practice roles like Nurse Practitioner (NP) or CRNA. Experience in PCU and complex patient management also makes you highly competitive for specialty certifications like PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse).
