About the position

As a Systems Administrator at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the computer systems that support national security. This position involves ensuring the reliable operation of both desktop and server systems, providing technical support, and implementing IT solutions to improve agency operations. You will work closely with users to resolve issues and ensure system integrity, all while adhering to security protocols and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an organization's computer systems' workflows and ensure reliable operation of computer systems.
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems and management of system infrastructure.
  • Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices.
  • Provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Install and configure PC hardware, server hardware, and network connections.
  • Install/load operating system and application software using deployment tools like PowerShell, PDQ, or SCCM.
  • Isolate and resolve hardware and software problems across various systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain network components, implementing enhancements for reliability and performance.
  • Perform software installations and upgrades to Unix/Windows operating systems and maintain compliance with policies and agreements.
  • Create and manage procedures for maintaining linked databases, ensuring data safety and integrity.
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance of data center equipment.
  • Coordinate scheduled preventive maintenance with customers.
  • Collaborate on the development and testing of backup and recovery plans.
  • Ensure systems are secure to STIG guidelines and manage security patches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Must have Security+ certification or DoD 8570 Level II equivalent within 90 days of hire.
  • TS/SCI Clearance required and eligibility to obtain CI Poly.
  • Experience in UNIX, Windows, and/or Storage administration.
  • Experience with trouble ticket reporting and tracking systems such as Service+.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour calls and provide on-call support.
  • Ability to travel 0-20% to local area sites and other locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the imagery intelligence domain.
  • Ability to create and modify scripts in Windows, Linux, and Solaris systems.
  • Knowledge of the Customer's processes and production systems.
  • Skills in Window Server, Red Hat, IRIX, Solaris, Sybase, Informix, SQL, and Imagery Production Chain.
  • General knowledge of database and network administration.
