About the position

Collins Aerospace, an RTX Business, is seeking a Windows Administrator to join our team in El Segundo, CA. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our mission of making the world a safer place through the deployment and maintenance of classified IT infrastructures. The ideal candidate will work in a highly collaborative, multi-platform environment, primarily focusing on Microsoft Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux systems. As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of our IT systems, which requires an active DoD Secret security clearance. In this role, you will provide system administration in a heterogeneous environment, utilizing your knowledge of Windows Server internals, including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and Linux integration methods. You will be part of a fast-paced team, employing troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high complexity, including hardware and operating system integration. Your responsibilities will also include understanding data RAID, data backup technologies, and installing and configuring software applications as requested by end users. Responsibilities

  • Provide system administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Utilize knowledge of Windows Server internals including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and Linux integration methods.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems of moderate to high complexity, including hardware and OS integration.
  • Understand data RAID and data backup technologies.
  • Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field, or 6 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification within 6 months of start date.
  • Experience with security infrastructure products and capabilities.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux/Unix server and workstations.
  • Experience using VMware vCenter, vSphere, VDI (Horizon), and ESX or other virtual computing methods.
  • Experience with Windows architecture, deployment, administration, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity products.
  • Experience with application installation and multi-server environment/deployment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NetApp.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Ansible, Python).
  • Experience hardening systems using tools like SCAP and following STIGs.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Critical thinking skills to solve technical problems independently and collaboratively.
