D403 Technical Services is seeking to hire a T/A Tech Writer. In this position, you will research, write, and publish system level and component level technical descriptions, procedures, and ship alteration instructions for all submarine classes. Applicant must be able to work closely and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, technical illustrators, and department supervision to develop new or revised descriptive chapters, operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and component technical manuals for systems and equipment found aboard nuclear powered submarines and navy prototypes. These technical products will be developed as interactive electronic documents using state of the art publishing software. Attention to detail and product ownership are essential in all phases of the process to ensure an efficient and successful development effort. Applicant must be willing to learn to read and interpret fluid and electrical system diagrams, ship construction drawings, equipment drawings, and vendor equipment operating manuals.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Writing experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical, writing, or English degree.
  • Military operational experience.
  • Experience in electronic publishing (XML, SGML, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (including but not limited to Microsoft Office Applications and PDF editors).
  • Knowledge of submarine/mechanical systems and equipment operation and maintenance.
