About the position

The Target Security Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of guests, team members, and the brand. This position involves utilizing intelligence-led tactics to mitigate risks, respond to crises, and prevent theft and fraud, thereby protecting profitable sales and ensuring product availability. The role offers opportunities for skill development in crisis response, safety management, and ethical conduct within a dynamic retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Support sales by welcoming and engaging guests and team members at the front of store
• Lead a physical security culture by assessing and maintaining safe standards throughout the store
• Respond to and accurately document security incidents
• Leverage escalation tools for guest issues to provide a safe environment
• Conduct merchandise recoveries and provide apprehension support as needed
• Prevent theft by performing receipt checks for high-dollar merchandise
• Submit documentation for all incidents following AP policies
• Understand and use the video surveillance system
• Model safe working practices and maintain a clean store
• Provide service that meets the needs of guests
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
• Identify and correct hazards to comply with safety policies
• Perform other duties based on business needs

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate technology equipment
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
• Capability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to climb ladders and apprehend subjects as per company policy
• Ability to lift or move merchandise up to 40 pounds
• Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift
