About the position
As a Tattoo Apprentice and Shop Assistant at The Apollo Tattoo Studio, you will embark on a unique journey to learn the art of tattooing while simultaneously supporting the daily operations of our vibrant shop. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage of $16, and it is designed for individuals who are passionate about tattooing and eager to develop their skills in a professional environment. Under the mentorship of experienced tattoo artists, you will gain hands-on experience that is invaluable for your career in the tattoo industry. Your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities that blend both apprenticeship and shop assistance. As an apprentice, you will assist tattoo artists during sessions, observe various techniques, and practice your drawing and design skills. You will also be responsible for preparing tattoo stations, ensuring that all equipment is sterilized and organized, and participating in workshops that enhance your learning experience. This position is not just about observing; it is about actively engaging in the tattooing process and contributing to the creative environment of the studio. In addition to your apprenticeship duties, you will also take on shop assistant responsibilities. This includes greeting clients, managing appointments, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the shop. You will handle customer inquiries, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. This dual role will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of both the artistic and operational aspects of running a successful tattoo studio.
Responsibilities
- Assist tattoo artists during tattoo sessions.
- Observe and learn various tattooing techniques and styles.
- Practice drawing and tattoo designs to develop your skills.
- Prepare and set up tattoo stations, including sterilizing equipment and organizing supplies.
- Assist in creating custom tattoo designs for clients.
- Participate in workshops and training sessions provided by the shop.
- Greet and assist clients as they enter the shop.
- Schedule appointments and manage the shop's calendar.
- Handle customer inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, including cleaning workstations and common areas.
- Manage inventory and restock supplies as needed.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Strong passion for tattooing and a desire to learn and grow in the industry.
- Excellent drawing and artistic skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions precisely.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Previous experience in a customer service role is a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
