About The Position

This position performs clerical and customer service duties in support of office operations. The role involves assisting the general public with questions or concerns, referring individuals to appropriate personnel, and managing various financial and administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of relevant state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances and departmental policy including sales tax codes and exemptions, use tax, and similar regulations.
  • Knowledge of Georgia Registration and Titling Information Services procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles of records management.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and related computer software programs.
  • Skill in basic arithmetic, problem solving, and critical thinking.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the general public with questions or concerns; refers individuals to appropriate personnel.
  • Accounts for and balances all daily collections; records financial information; prepares and balances daily reports and daily bank deposits; verifies check totals and currency.
  • Maintains office inventory.
  • Maintains and balances petty cash fund.
  • Issues and renews tags and titles, motor vehicle license plates and decals, Disabled Person parking placards, and other County inventory; collects sales tax on title-required vehicles; processes property tax payments, mortgage escrow accounts, and refund requests.
  • Issues relocation permits and decals for mobile homes; conducts site visits to mobile home parks for decal compliance.
  • Interprets state and local policies, procedures, and laws related to motor vehicles and property taxes.
  • Enters and retrieves information from DRIVES and IasWorld computer systems.
  • Operates a multi-line phone system.
  • Mails property tax bills, delinquent notices, and mobile home bills.
  • Opens, processes, and distributes mail.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
