About The Position

The Tax Compliance Administrator at UW-Madison's Division of Business Services is responsible for ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations affecting institutional-level activities. This role involves developing institution-wide policies, maintaining compliance data, and serving as the subject matter expert on higher education tax compliance issues. The administrator will also deliver training, monitor institutional risk, and communicate strategies to leadership to ensure adherence to institutional policies and laws.

Requirements

  • Experience in tax compliance and understanding of federal and state regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Experience in risk management and compliance monitoring.

  • Knowledge of higher education tax compliance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the institutional compliance officer for one or more laws that affect institutional-level activities.
  • Develops institution-wide policies, maintains compliance data, and oversees the compliance program and affiliated staff.
  • Develops and delivers training on compliance matters.
  • Monitors institutional risk and communicates risk and remediation strategies to leadership.
  • Directs operational activities and staffing resources for compliance implementation, including outreach, support, and/or investigations.
  • Oversees, develops, and participates in activities designed to raise awareness of the law(s) and its implications.
