Baker Tilly is seeking a Tax Senior Manager specializing in Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits within its Washington National Tax team. This internal position is designed for tax specialists who are eager to enhance their technical skills and build a career focused on the taxation of compensation and benefits. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge and demonstrated experience in this area, and will be expected to work closely with internal clients rather than external ones. The role offers a steady schedule, avoiding the intense peaks typically associated with busy seasons, making it suitable for those who prefer a balanced work-life dynamic. In this position, you will provide tax technical support and insights to team members across various practices, including tax, audit, consulting, and internal HR. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation issues, such as ERISA, qualified retirement plans, fringe benefits, golden parachutes, deferred compensation, and equity compensation. You will be tasked with briefing team members on relevant issues, attending client meetings, and reviewing matters with clients or their legal counsel. This will involve preparing emails, planning memos, and participating in conference calls and meetings to ensure effective communication and understanding of tax regulations. Additionally, you will be responsible for staying updated on current developments in tax law and preparing alerts to inform team members about changes that may impact their work. Drafting internal and external communications regarding new developments in compensation and benefit matters will also be a key part of your role. You will engage in both formal and informal training sessions on employee benefits and executive compensation, contribute to professional publications, and represent the firm at government hearings and conferences. Collaboration with other specialty groups on overlapping technical matters, participation in tax research projects, and developing strategic recommendations for leadership will further define your contributions to the firm.
