About the position

The Teacher Aide position in the Cross-Categorical Special Education Program at Edison Middle School is designed to support students with diverse educational needs. This role is crucial in fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. The Teacher Aide will work closely with licensed teachers and other staff members to implement educational programs tailored to the individual needs of students. In this role, the Teacher Aide will assist in the daily activities of the classroom, providing support to students in their learning processes. This includes helping with instructional tasks, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students. The Teacher Aide will also be responsible for using approved student restraints when necessary, lifting students or equipment as needed, and performing physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and squatting to meet the needs of students. The position is full-time, requiring 7 hours of work each day, and is expected to start in August 2024. The ideal candidate will possess a Paraprofessional License or the ability to obtain one, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. The role demands a collaborative spirit, as the Teacher Aide will work closely with staff, students, and parents to create a positive educational experience.
