About the position

The Teacher - Art position at Cactus Canyon Junior High is designed for a dedicated educator who will foster a positive classroom environment conducive to effective instruction and learning. The role involves providing learning experiences that align with approved curriculum and State and District standards, developing lesson plans, and adapting instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students. The teacher will communicate learning goals clearly, facilitate both small and large group instruction, and utilize technology to enhance the learning experience. Responsibilities also include evaluating student growth, maintaining accurate records, and engaging with guardians regarding student progress. The teacher will participate in team reviews for at-risk students, implement Individual Education Plans, and supervise students during school activities. Professional development and participation in school-wide initiatives are also key components of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a positive classroom environment conducive to effective instruction and learning
  • Provide learning experiences correlated with approved curriculum and State and District standards
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of each pupil
  • Communicate learning goals to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
  • Facilitate small and large group instruction based on current research-based best practices
  • Use available technology to enhance learning
  • Evaluate student growth
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by State/Federal law and District policy
  • Establish oral and/or written lines of communication with guardians to discuss pupil progress
  • Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress of low performing/at-risk students
  • Use site, District, and State assessment data to drive instruction and place students in appropriate instructional and/or intervention programs
  • Effectively implement Individual Education Plans
  • Assume responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and conferences with guardians
  • Participate in school and District initiatives
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in District provided professional development sessions and/or self-selected professional growth activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the District or school site

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree
  • AZ Teaching Certificate
  • AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Appropriately Certified
  • SEI Endorsement

Benefits

  • Starting salary of $47,167 based on equivalent experience and internal equity
