About the position

The Teacher position at Jubilee Academies is designed to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences that foster their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The mission of this role is to enable students to develop the competencies and skills necessary to function successfully in society. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the requirements of the school curriculum, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally. This includes preparing emergency lesson plans, accommodating different learning styles, and collaborating with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The teacher will also utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process, participate in tutoring sessions, and perform other duties as assigned. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the teacher will play a crucial role in student growth and development by helping students analyze and improve their study methods and habits. They will conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement and assume responsibility for extracurricular activities, serving as a positive role model and supporting the school's mission. Classroom management is another key aspect of this position, where the teacher will create a positive learning environment, maintain an orderly classroom, and manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Effective communication is essential in this role, as the teacher will establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, and colleagues. Professional growth and development are also emphasized, with opportunities to participate in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills. The teacher will be expected to actively support and participate in fundraising activities and community engagement efforts, promoting the charter's mission and encouraging public support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school curriculum program.
  • Prepare emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aid and volunteers.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Teach students to work toward self-discipline and responsibility.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus Assistant Director.
  • Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain neat and orderly classroom.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

  • Hold at least a bachelor's degree.
  • Certified in Texas as a Bilingual Generalist, Core Subjects (4-8), or ELAR (7-12).
  • Demonstrate competency in their core academic subject area.
  • Must believe fully in the mission and vision of Jubilee Academies.
