About the position

As a Technical Account Manager (TAM) at Google Cloud, you will leverage your customer-facing skills and technical expertise to facilitate the adoption of Google Cloud products among enterprise customers. Your role will be pivotal in guiding organizations through their cloud transformation journey, ensuring they successfully implement and utilize Google Cloud services. You will be responsible for managing Professional Services engagements, which include a variety of Google Cloud offerings such as Google Compute Engine, Google Cloud Machine Learning, Google Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, Google Workspace, and Google Chrome. Your experience in cloud infrastructure, program management, and enterprise technology implementation will be essential in driving customer success. In this position, you will engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including executives from large enterprises, and work closely with cross-functional teams that may be geographically dispersed. Your ability to build and maintain strategic relationships will be crucial as you advocate for customer needs, helping to overcome adoption blockers and driving the development of new features that align with customer requirements. You will also lead quarterly business reviews and executive sessions to gain insights into both business and technical needs, ensuring that the solutions provided are tailored to meet those needs effectively. Additionally, you will be responsible for planning customer events and launches, collaborating with Support, Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to ensure customer success during critical moments. This role may require you to be present on-site at key customer locations, with travel expectations of up to 25% domestically. Your contributions will directly impact the success of Google Cloud's customers, enabling them to leverage cutting-edge technology to transform their businesses and industries.

Responsibilities

  • Accelerate customer adoption of Google Cloud by leading the implementation journey.
  • Provide technical guidance and manage timelines, milestones, migration goals, and business transformation strategies.
  • Advocate for customer needs to overcome adoption blockers and drive new feature development.
  • Lead across multiple work streams and teams to maintain customer momentum.
  • Develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., C-Suite and IT team) to understand a customer's business and develop strategic roadmaps.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and executive sessions to better understand business and technical needs.
  • Plan for customer events and launches, partnering with Support, Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering to ensure customer success during critical moments.
  • Work with customers and Support to guide issues and escalations to resolution.
  • Be an on-site presence at key customer locations as required and travel domestically up to 25% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a technical project management or a customer-facing role.
  • Experience supporting enterprise customers in cloud operations (e.g., launch, capacity planning, product release management), technical support, escalation management, or comparable IT consulting role.
  • Experience in application/workload migration to public cloud providers (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a customer-facing role interfacing with executive stakeholders, driving customer technical implementation or transformation programs.
  • Understanding of IT operations, database systems, networking, IT security, application development, service architecture, cloud-native application development, hosted services, storage systems, or content delivery networks.
