About the position

The Technical Account Manager for Refining & Petrochemical will play a crucial role in supporting customers in the refining industries within a highly visible territory in Texas, specifically focusing on the Houston and Corpus Christi areas. This position is integral to Quadra's USA business, which is known for its innovative partnerships and strong manufacturing base. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, including engineers, operators, and local procurement teams, while promoting Quadra's products and services. This role requires a deep understanding of refining processes and the ability to implement strategic business plans that align with industry trends and customer needs. As a Technical Account Manager, you will be expected to travel frequently throughout the assigned region, engaging with clients on-site and participating in industry events. Your responsibilities will include meeting or exceeding annual sales and margin objectives, utilizing both internal and external resources to showcase Quadra's reputation for technical and commercial excellence. You will also be tasked with troubleshooting customer issues, optimizing opportunities, and managing tight timelines while adapting to a rapidly changing environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in refining engineering or operations, complemented by professional sales experience. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent relationship-building skills, effective communication, and a results-oriented approach to business development. Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow key customer relationships, in line with Quadra's core values and strategic vision
  • Meet or exceed annual sales and margin objectives, developed in line with Quadra's business requirements
  • Utilize internal and external supplier resources, showcasing Quadra's reputation for technical and commercial excellence
  • Sell Quadra's superior product line to potential customers through routine customer visits, joint calls and participation in industry events
  • Social networking; participate, create, facilitate/host networking events with potential clients and partners in your assigned territory
  • Assist with customer troubleshooting and optimization opportunities
  • Travel frequently to assist clients on site, meet with potential customers, organize and/or participate in industry events
  • Bring proven presentation and written communication skills
  • Manage tight timelines and deal with after hour emergencies
  • Qualify key decision makers and their needs
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements
  • Building and maintaining customer relationships with key decision makers/influencers to obtain repeat and new sales
  • Adapt to a complex, rapidly changing environment in a day to day basis
  • Cold calling potential customers
  • Daily reporting and scheduling

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or any related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a business development & technical sales role selling products or services to the refining or petrochemical industry
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an operations/managerial/technical support role in a refinery or petrochemical or chemical complex would be considered as a great asset
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry and/or chemical distribution is considered a strong asset
  • Competency dealing with gas processing amines, glycols, molecular sieve, heat transfer fluids, activated carbon and commodities
  • Proven ability to drive new sales: prospecting, qualifying customer's needs and expectations, delivering presentations, qualifying concerns and closing
  • Proven ability in achieving sales targets and KPI's
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain business relationships with prospective customers to generate new business
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time including: international (Canada & US) and overnight travel
  • Valid driver's license & valid passport; you must live near a major airport as travel is key in this role
  • Proven computer skills, experience with a CRM (ideally Salesforce) and with the Microsoft Office suite
