About the position

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) for the Department of Defense at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is responsible for providing strategic technical guidance and advocacy to customers, ensuring they derive maximum value from AWS services. This role involves crafting and executing strategies to enhance customer adoption of AWS technologies, while acting as the primary technical advisor and voice of the customer. The TAM will engage with senior leadership to discuss incidents, support, and risk management, and will maintain operational health of customer environments.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal technical advisor and voice of the customer for Department of Defense clients.
  • Craft and execute strategies to drive customer adoption of AWS services.
  • Provide strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices.
  • Maintain operational health of customers' AWS environments.
  • Develop close relationships with customers to understand their business needs and technical challenges.
  • Drive discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents and support.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of customer-facing experience in technical engineering or an architectural role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline, or 3 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with operational parameters and troubleshooting in areas such as Compute, Storage, Networking, or Security.
  • Internal enterprise or external customer-facing experience as a technical lead.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Experience as a technical account manager, consultant, solutions architect, or similar role.
