About the position

Meta Reality Labs Research is looking for a Technical Artist Game Developer Prototyper to help invent the future of digital presence in the Metaverse. You will partner with our Creative Director, technical artists, research scientists, and engineers to create immersive demos that show how our state-of-the-art technologies can enable the future of AR/VR avatars. Our research team develops the technologies that will enable Meta's product groups to ship the avatars the world will see in 5 to 10+ years. You'll work in small, nimble teams to rapidly iterate on digital character-focused demos and prototypes.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Creative Director, technical artists, research scientists, and engineers to create immersive demos
  • Integrate vision of Creative/Art Director, 3D character assets, and innovative technologies
  • Collaborate with teams to rapidly iterate on digital character-focused demos and prototypes
  • Work as the 'integrator' inside real-time engines like Unreal
  • Share demos with leadership and community to inspire and define a north-star for our future metaverse

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of VFX, feature animation, and games experience
  • Focusing on data ingestion/processing, pipeline automated systems, and Games mechanics
  • Visual scripting, simulations, shaders, Blueprint mechanics
  • 3D Math fundamentals as applied to 3D systems
  • 50/50 skills blend between Technical and Arts
  • First-hand experience with industry production processes and cross-discipline collaboration and communication
  • Taking direction, yet also working independently, multitasking, and self-prioritize
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, Houdini, and USD
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Visualization, or Computer Animation, including coding and scripting in various languages
  • Previous experience in large scale VFX shot work and AAA games is a plus
  • Math background is a plus
  • Experience with real-time analytics tools/languages/process and visual scripting
  • Knowledge of Houdini UE5 and 'Maya is a plus'
  • Experience with USD file format
  • Drawing skills are a plus
  • AI interest is a plus
