Responsibilities

  • Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences including military personnel.
  • Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referencing technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
  • Oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, including the selection of drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
  • Conduct quality reviews of technical manuals.
  • Plan, coordinate, and maintain an integrated Technical Manual (TM) schedule and status through the PoP for all Technical Order (TO) activities.
  • Track and report variances to planned schedule dates, performance metrics, and coordinate the execution of various technical manual reviews.

Requirements

  • 3 Years with Bachelors; 1 Year with Masters OR an additional 10 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be able to attain a Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous IETM authoring and development experience.
  • Familiar with unmanned aircraft & ground segment systems.
  • Experience using AGILE & JIRA best practices.
  • General understanding of S1000D, SGML or XML authoring software, common source database, and technical publications development processes.
