About the position

The Technical Product Owner (TPO) at SmarTek21 plays a crucial role in application modernization and enhancing the Developer Experience. This position focuses on streamlining the development and deployment of services through platform enablement, collaborating closely with Operations and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to ensure a scalable and reliable platform. The TPO will manage a prioritized backlog, work with an agile delivery team, and serve as a scrum master, fostering high-performing team dynamics and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Form a backlog of features and user stories for the delivery team.
• Articulate requirements for each user story with detailed acceptance criteria.
• Utilize data and insights from multiple sources to benefit the business and members.
• Pursue incremental delivery by meeting business goals and learning from users through measurable enhancements.
• Collaborate with the delivery team to support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and long-term release planning.
• Monitor and improve product health.
• Ensure completed stories meet acceptance criteria by reviewing test plans and contributing to manual testing efforts when necessary.
• Prioritize and collaborate in the resolution of issues and defects.
• Seek and improve processes across the product and delivery teams using retrospectives.
• Effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and management levels.
• Provide direction, mentorship, and coaching to junior Product Owners.
• Stay current on Product Ownership and apply agile delivery practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years current experience working on a Scrum and/or Agile team
• 3+ years current experience working on a Services Oriented or Microservice development platform
• 3+ years experience with creating documentation for communication with varied audiences
• 2+ years experience working on technical development projects
• Deep understanding of business requirements elicitation
• Proficient in business modeling, project scoping, and use case creation
• Expertise in utilizing standard documentation tools/utilities

Nice-to-haves

• Experience leading a Platform Engineering or Internal Developer Portal (IDP) team
• Familiarity with Java, Hibernate, MS SQL, No SQL, REST, Docker, Kubernetes, Swagger, Helm, Istio, TKG, SRE, DevOps, IDP development
• Experience with a travel technology organization is a plus
