About the position

The Technical Project Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing various phases of construction projects, particularly in the telecommunications sector. This position involves conducting pre-construction walkouts, mid-construction site visits, and post-construction walkouts to ensure that all aspects of the project are executed according to plan. The manager will be responsible for the onsite integration of cable landing stations, which is critical for the successful deployment of telecommunications infrastructure. In this role, the Technical Project Manager will manage personnel resources across all internal engineering groups, consultants, and contractors. This includes working collaboratively across multiple departments to identify necessary resources, both internally and externally, and engaging professional design and engineering services as well as general contractors. The manager will also be tasked with developing and maintaining project budgets and schedules, utilizing tools such as Gantt charts and PET charts to track progress and ensure timely completion of project milestones. Additionally, the Technical Project Manager will support and define project scopes in collaboration with internal and external customers. This includes overseeing the procurement of services and materials, ensuring that all project documentation is current, accurate, and complete. The role requires a proactive approach to managing changes in project scope, identifying potential risks, and coordinating mitigation efforts across various departments to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-construction walkouts, mid-construction site visits, and post-construction walkouts.
  • Oversee onsite integration of cable landing stations.
  • Manage personnel resources within all internal engineering groups, consultants, and contractors.
  • Work across multiple departments to identify necessary resources and engage professional design and engineering services.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules, including Gantt and PET charts.
  • Validate project requirements and design documents, and prepare project bid information.
  • Ensure project documentation is current, accurate, and complete.
  • Support and define project scopes with internal and external customers.
  • Oversee and participate in the procurement of services and materials.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope and identify potential risks.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable in telecommunications network topologies and network integration, with a focus on fiber construction.
  • Proficient in construction terminology and processes related to fiber plant systems in the telecommunications industry.
  • Technical experience or understanding of network technologies (e.g., Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto) and basic networking concepts.
  • Ability to coordinate a team to design, test, and implement a communication network.
  • Knowledge of routine, surveillance, and construction operations including Fiber Optic, AC, DC, Wireline, and HFC Networks.
  • Knowledge in the operation of related field equipment such as signal level meters and leakage detection equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of system design, city street maps, and complex network architecture, with proficiency in map reading.
  • Skilled in developing project plans, budgets, timelines, and milestones, and in delivering executive-level presentations.
