About the position

The Proposal Writer will be responsible for owning the development of successful responses to RFIs and RFPs, as well as various types of documentation in support of proposals, contracts, and capture tasks. This position is primarily focused on writing original proposal content and preparing professionally formatted proposal responses. The successful candidate will have the ability to research and develop content that describes technical approaches to topics ranging from IT network/systems engineering to cybersecurity with limited assistance. Responsibilities include researching and writing compelling original technical proposal content, reviewing, editing, and rewriting content developed by others, and integrating this content into final documents. The Proposal Writer will also write, edit, and proofread proposal, project, and contract documentation while meeting established schedules and deadlines. Additionally, the role involves developing proposal compliance matrices, outlines, schedules, templates, and review guidance, and tracking these through proposal development and submission. The Proposal Writer will design and develop professional templates in line with company branding using MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite for both internal and external use. They will also develop and work with cost spreadsheets and associated backup data, turning concepts and ideas into proposal graphics. Maintaining process and procedure documentation and training other team members on correct use and implementation is also part of the job. The Proposal Writer will manage proposal content and documentation libraries, ensuring that content is accurate and updated regularly, lead color team reviews with the proposal team, track proposal deadlines, and ensure compliant and accurate proposal submissions. Support for proposal teams on-site may be required as needed, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Research and write compelling original technical proposal content.

  • Develop and work with cost spreadsheets and associated backup data.
  • Turn concepts and ideas into proposal graphics.
  • Develop and maintain process and procedure documentation.
  • Train other team members on correct use and implementation.
  • Manage proposal content and documentation libraries, ensuring content is accurate and updated on a regular basis.
  • Lead color team reviews with proposal team.
  • Track proposal deadlines and ensure compliant and accurate proposal submission.
  • Support proposal teams on-site as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • US citizen eligible for Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Communications, or related field and 4-6 years of proposal writing experience in a technical field.
  • Proven experience writing original technical proposal content for topics such as IT, cyber, networking, software development, etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, as needed.
  • Self-starter with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours if necessary to meet proposal and deliverable deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, including creating templates, setting styles, using formulas and macros.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of Federal/DoD contracting, FAR/DFARs.
  • Proven experience leading winning Federal/DoD proposals.
  • Knowledge of Shipley capture and proposal process.
