About the position

The Technical Publications Lead at ZeroAvia is responsible for developing and delivering technical documentation to support the company's hydrogen-electric propulsion development programs. This role focuses on creating the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) manual set and other necessary product manuals to meet Type Certification Requirements. The position requires collaboration with engineering teams to ensure the delivery and continued airworthiness of ZeroAvia's product line, emphasizing a solution-focused approach in a high-velocity culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical publications process for ZeroAvia and its product lines.
  • Complete complex engineering research, development, and certification requirements for authoring and illustrating technical publications.
  • Lead the creation of manuals through cross-collaboration with relevant technical teams.
  • Deliver and support required technical publications, including ICA and non-ICA documentation for product type certification.
  • Coordinate with supply chain personnel on the acceptance and delivery of supplier Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM).
  • Define and create service plans for ZeroAvia's product line, including Illustrated Part Catalogues (IPC) and Illustrated Tools and Equipment Manual (ITEM).
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules for internal and external vendors providing technical authoring services.
  • Maintain the documentation portal for secure access to documentation by customers, regulators, and ZeroAvia staff.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years in the civil or defense aviation industry.
  • Electric propulsion experience is a major plus.
  • Subject Matter expert on industry specifications: ATA iSpec2200 and S1000D.
  • Experience working with Common Source Databases (CSDBs).
  • Familiarity with SGML/XML.
  • Familiarity with publishing ITEPs and paper-based publications.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma Principles (Green, Black, or Master Black Belt certification a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent level of spoken and written English (additional languages a plus).
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a small team.
  • B.S. in Aviation, Engineering, or related field.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience and knowledge of manufacture, operation, and maintenance practices for aircraft systems.
  • Able to travel internationally on occasion.
