About the position

The Technical Writer/Administrative Specialist will play a crucial role in providing technical writing and administrative support to the M26/Intelligence Enterprise Management Office (IEMO). This position requires a proactive individual who can create, edit, and maintain various forms of technical documentation, including user manuals, system documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The successful candidate will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather necessary information, ensuring that all technical content is accurate and accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. This role also involves formatting and inserting sites and service diagrams correctly into documentation. In addition to technical writing, the position entails providing administrative support to senior staff. This includes scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating travel arrangements. The candidate will be responsible for preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence for both internal and external distribution. Maintaining organized filing systems and databases is essential to ensure efficient document management. Quality assurance is a key component of this role, as the Technical Writer/Administrative Specialist will review and revise documents for grammar, clarity, consistency, and adherence to organizational standards. Conducting quality checks on documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements is also expected. The position may require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to meet project deadlines, as well as some travel for project-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation including user manuals, system documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Translate complex technical information into clear and concise documentation accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ensure sites and service diagrams are formatted correctly and inserted
  • Provide administrative support to senior staff including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating travel arrangements
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence for internal and external distribution
  • Maintain organized filing systems and databases to ensure efficient document management

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Proven experience as a technical writer or in a similar role, demonstrating strong writing skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in providing administrative support such as scheduling, correspondence management, and travel arrangements
  • Proficiency in using document editing and publishing tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Defense or Government contracting environments
  • Familiarity with SharePoint or other document management systems
  • Experience with graphics and illustration software for creating visual aids in documentation
