About the position

The Technical Writer/Author position at Creed Infotech is a full-time role based in Houston, Texas, specifically focused on the Oil and Gas domain. This position is a 6-month contract that requires the candidate to create and manage various technical documents and procedures. The primary responsibilities include developing operating instructions, assembly and disassembly procedures, quality inspection protocols, testing procedures, and service and repair guidelines. The role also involves creating an interactive user interface for procedures that can support both manual and autonomous operations, allowing multiple operators to collaborate on a single procedure simultaneously. In addition to document creation, the Technical Writer will need to understand the gate reviews and priorities for new document requests and revisions. This includes preparing checklists and reviewing documented procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical authoring, with proven experience in using illustration tools to create interactive and visual documentation. Familiarity with content management tools and the ability to deliver high-quality documentation with attention to detail are essential for success in this role. The position requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English, and the ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and present them in an easily understandable format. While experience in the Oil and Gas sector is preferred, the primary focus is on the candidate's technical writing skills and their ability to produce clear and concise documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Creating operating instructions, assembly procedures, disassembly procedures, quality inspection procedures, testing procedures, and service & repair procedures.
  • Creating an interactive procedure user interface that supports both manual and autonomous procedure performance.
  • Developing collaborative and interactive routine operating procedures for multiple operators to view and collaborate on a single procedure simultaneously.
  • Understanding the gate reviews and priorities for New Document Requests & Revision Document Requests.
  • Preparing checklists and reviewing documented procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience in technical authoring.
  • Strong experience using illustration tools to create interactive & visual procedures & documentation.
  • Experience with Teamcenter.
  • Experience in new technical documentation and revision & maintenance of existing documentation.
  • Hands-on experience working with any content management tool.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality documentation with attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and visuals.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred working experience in the Oil & Gas domain.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint.
