About the position

CGS is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to provide consultative, analytical, and documentation support for a large Federal agency initiative. This role is essential in helping to solve the government's most dynamic problems with cutting-edge technology. The Technical Writer will be responsible for drafting and developing technical documentation related to a variety of projects in the IT space. This includes working closely with project stakeholders to establish technical processes and procedures, documenting projects through the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and providing status reports for multiple ongoing projects and related documentation efforts. The position also involves assisting with both user and admin level documentation, ensuring that all materials are clear, concise, and accessible to the intended audience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, with at least 5 years of experience in developing technical documentation and 3 years in user documentation. Excellent writing and communication skills are crucial, as is fluency with industry-standard technical summary and reporting techniques, including Agile project management methodology. The ability to produce quality work independently or in a group setting is essential, as is experience with the MS Office Suite, including Visio. Candidates must also be willing and able to pass a background check/security screening. Familiarity with Business Intelligence/Analysis applications and experience with government software development policies and procedures are preferred, as is client-facing communication experience and a Federal Agency issued security clearance.
