About the position

The MIL Corporation is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor (Technical Writer, Senior Analyst) to work with a Federal Government Client in Charleston, South Carolina. As a member of the Systems Development and Maintenance team, the successful candidate will provide technical writing/editing support for multiple projects and document technical manuals, user documentation, and training materials for the requirements, testing and implementation of software applications. In addition, the Technical Writer/Editor will provide writing support for a Program Management Office (PMO) and be responsible for researching and documenting internal management information and drafting clear, concise, accurate, and compliant process and policy documentation. This position currently requires a hybrid schedule, with 2-3 days on-site. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Creates documentation deliverables including, but not limited to, requirements, user manuals, work instructions, project briefings, and management plans
  • Produces communications materials, including but not limited to policies, procedures, training materials, newsletters, bulletins, etc. as both a primary writer and an editor
  • Collaborates with the PMO staff in the development of management deliverable documentation to include both written and graphic content
  • Collaborates effectively across project teams and the client, gathering information and producing critical content in a highly readable, customer-focused format
  • Demonstrates writing/editing skills with the ability to gather information from multiple sources, organizing and synthesizing the information into a clear point of view, and create a concise and well-written narrative
  • Determines the needs of end users of technical documentation and works with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
  • Drafts new and improving existing PMO policies and processes

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical writing/editing experience
  • Experience with navigating SharePoint and utilizing SharePoint Document Libraries
  • Excellent working knowledge of English grammar and the written language
  • Ability to translate technical information into plain language for audiences of all backgrounds
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Teams
  • Strong oral and interpersonal communications skills
