About the position

The Technical Writer I role at Aristocrat is integral to the technical writing team, which is responsible for developing comprehensive documentation for regulatory and field use of the company's platforms and servers. This position involves managing a technical communication library and defining global publication standards to enhance company-wide communication initiatives in a high-pressure environment. The team collaborates with a global community of practice to establish standards for information content, format, and delivery that align with the latest industry standards and practices. As a Technical Writer I, you will participate fully in these endeavors, contributing to the creation of high-quality documentation that meets the needs of various stakeholders. In this role, you will be tasked with writing and accurately maintaining a library of software technical documentation. You will edit technical content to ensure it is unified and consistent, written in a single voice. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with developers, stakeholders, and end users to determine documentation requirements. Timeliness and quality are paramount, and you will be expected to deliver all content promptly while adhering to high standards. Additionally, you will engage in peer reviews of content, ensuring compliance with uniform industry and company standards. The role also requires the ability to learn and work with structured authoring tools, as well as strong research skills to identify best practices in technical writing.

Responsibilities

  • Write and accurately maintain a library of software technical documentation.

  • Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and end users to determine documentation requirements.
  • Deliver all content in a timely manner with high quality results.

  • Ability to learn and work with our structured authoring tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year's experience as a writer or documentation specialist.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Snagit, file management systems, project tracking systems, and publications software.
  • Able to provide portfolio or samples of written work.
  • Experience with Agile frameworks.
  • Experience with structured authoring, DITA, and using a CCMS.
  • Background in technology development.
  • Basic XML knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with regulatory documentation standards.
  • Experience in the gaming industry or related fields.
