In this role, the Technical Writer will assist engineers in recording detailed procedures for ECTD test and evaluation operations, ensuring that all test data is complete and accurately represented. The writer will compile and manipulate test data into comprehensive reports, translating complex technical concepts into understandable narratives and illustrations. This requires a strong ability to quickly grasp intricate technical details and convey them in a manner that is accessible to various audiences. The Technical Writer will also apply their knowledge of military standards, specifications, and performance specifications to produce documentation that adheres to established technical writing principles and meets the standards set by the Army Test & Evaluation Command (ATEC) and RTC. The ability to write in both explanatory and procedural styles is crucial, as is the capacity to monitor the progress of technical documents through the review process. This position is vital for ensuring that all technical documentation is accurate, clear, and compliant with relevant standards, thereby supporting the overall mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit technical documents including test plans and test reports.
  • Assist engineers in recording detailed procedures for ECTD test and evaluation operations.
  • Verify completeness of test data.
  • Compile and manipulate test data, information, and results into test reports.
  • Collaborate with and assist teams of engineers and technicians in product and documentation requirements.
  • Quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into understandable narratives and illustrations.
  • Work with teams on test specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of military standards (MIL-STDs), military specifications (MIL-SPECs), and military performance specifications (MIL-PRFs) to produce documentation.
  • Write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
  • Monitor test and project technical documents progress through the review process.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a technical writer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of technical writing principles and standards.
  • Familiarity with military standards and specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical skills to verify and compile test data.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools and software.
