About the position

Bowhead seeks a Technical Writer to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center - Crane Division (NSWC-Crane). The Technical Writer will provide programmatic and Life Cycle Logistics support for current Electro-Optic Infrared (EO/IR) projects managed by the Electro-Optic Technology Division (EOTD) including programmatic services, procurement documentation development, budget formulation, financial execution and tracking, and technical writing. Contractor shall provide project management support including, but not limited to, the following: coordination of project operations including management of records, schedules, and correspondence; analytical support; deliverables tracking; task management; and support the development of milestones and objectives for current projects.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical manuals, training manuals, and standard operating procedures for prototypes undergoing CONOP development.
  • Write lab SOPs for equipment, including Hazard Analysis of procedures.
  • Manage material tracking, including documentation for ordering and incoming material, and general organization of lab inventory.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in Hazard Analysis via NSWC Crane offered training.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in Non-Ordnance SOP Writing via NSWC Crane offered training.
  • Provide inventory and shipping/receiving logistics support for the T3Bravo Team and other components of the T3 project.
  • Work with other component/program Logisticians to manage assets requiring dual reporting or managed by other programs.
  • Prepare documentation to comply with OM&S requirements in accordance with current Navy and local policy.
  • Conduct research and prepare documentation for new material being procured or received to ensure compliance with ERP and OM&S requirements.
  • Responsible for transactions required through the Navy Enterprise Resource Program (Navy ERP) and Operating Materials & Supplies (OM&S).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors' Degree with two (2) to five (5) years of professional experience in government document control, knowledge of government operating procedures and requirements.
  • Experience writing technical documents including standard operating procedures (SOPs), test plans, maintenance manuals, and other instructional and guidance documentation.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
