About the position

The Technical Writer III position is a critical role within our marketing team, focusing on the creation and maintenance of high-quality technical documentation. This role is designed for a self-motivated individual who not only excels in writing but also has a passion for creating video artifacts that enhance the documentation process. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn about our products and contribute to their success through effective documentation. The position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work hours while maintaining a commitment to quality and deadlines. In this role, the Technical Writer will be responsible for organizing material and completing writing assignments according to established standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. This includes maintaining records and files of work and revisions, as well as conferring with clients to establish technical specifications and determine the subject material to be developed for publication. The candidate will be expected to assimilate information from various sources, including technical writing, to create user-focused documentation that meets the needs of our audience. The Technical Writer III will also be evaluated based on the quality of their work and their ability to meet deadlines. This position requires a proactive approach to learning and adapting to new information quickly, especially in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have a background in technical writing, with a focus on user-centered documentation, and will be comfortable reading programming code to enhance their understanding of the products they are documenting.

Responsibilities

  • Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
  • Confer with clients to establish technical specifications and determine subject material to be developed for publication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, English, journalism, or communications.
  • 5-7 years of experience in technical writing, specifically user-focused documentation.
  • Experience in creating documentation for a technical audience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read some programming code.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
